Do you pay royalties to bands? |
Nope.
Putting your music on this site is totally voluntary, is meant as a promotional tool to give people a taste of what you're doing, and in doing so, you are saying that you are the owner of the material and/or have the legal right or permission to do so. In doing so, you relieve AUSTINTXMUSIC.com of any obligation to pay royalties, whether you're on a label or not. If you are on a label (especially a bigger one) you might want to check with them to make sure it's not in violation of your contract. If necessary, you might be able to get a waiver from the label depending on how the music was published. If you have already uploaded music and they have a problem with it, the account can be removed upon request.
Cover songs are not allowed, unless:
- You have a binding legal document stating that you have permission specifically to upload the song on a website for streaming and/or downloading, without obligation to pay royalties.
AND
- You send a copy of the document to AustinTxMusic.com.
Sorry if this seems harsh, but the RIAA, BMI and ASCAP have people that specifically watch sites like this, and when it comes to their money, THEY DON'T PLAY!!! THEY SUE!!!
