Joe Montgomery wants me to meet his dog. Sure...I like dogs, no problem. Bailey, the Wonder Dog turns out to be a great old dog. I tell Joe that Bailey reminds me of a dog I had when I was little. Smart, funny, devoted...I loved the crap out of that dog. Joe says EVERYONE says that. If they had once loved a beagle, they say he looks like he is part beagle. If their best dog was a border collie, they say Bailey surely must be part border collie. We talk to a few other people at the dog park and sure enough, he is right. So what does this have to do with Joe Montgomery's music? Well, Joe is like his dog. I think he sounds like Neil Young... but I have always loved Neil Young. I have a friend who says he sounds like the Drive By truckers. I ask (of course), "Who is your favorite band?" Answer; "Drive By Truckers". Now I get it. |
